Emmanuel Baptist Church

About Us

We live in a society with too
        much selfishness
           and “don’t care” attitudes:

  • Where lies are the norm in the headlines,
  • Where dishonesty is acceptable,
  • “Spin” rules, and
  • “Me first” is commonplace.

We enjoy a different community -

  • Where people care for each other,
  • Strangers are welcomed, whoever they are
  • Truth is valued,
  • Helping hands are offered,
  • Family is a cornerstone and...
  • “What do you need?”  is commonplace.

              Come and see………..

The Church was founded in 1905 and is a member Church of the Old Baptist Union and  part of its non-geographical association within the Baptist Union. It is also in membership with the Southern Baptist Association and the Fellowship of the Bournemouth & District Baptist Churches. Our articles of faith are based upon those of the Old Baptist Union.

Currently the Church has a membership of 131, but many more worship regularly with us. Visitors join with us through out the year, but during the summer, numbers rise significantly. The church believes it is privileged to have this special ministry to visitors and holidaymakers.

The Church is a member of the South Wessex Evangelical Alliance and the Association of Churches Together in Swanage & District (ACTS), with whom we have a close working relationship.  ACTS carries through a vigorous programme which includes Community Care, a town-wide care scheme,  a counselling service, a town-centre Christian Book Shop and a series of evangelistic projects. Many of our members are involved in these activities.

Our constant prayer is that our mission should be ongoing and with the wide denominational background of our membership and the variety of gifts within the whole fellowship, we seek to glorify God and spread the love of Jesus abroad by our lives as well as our words.
