Discovery English

Discovery English is the name given to a Social Evening which provides an opportunity to practise conversational English in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Students, mainly from Harrow House, and International Workers from the Swanage area, are able to play games, learn about British Traditions and visit local tourist attractions with their friends free from any academic pressures. In addition, those who wish, can be invited to typically English homes for Sunday Lunch from time to time. The objective is to provide a warm welcome to all foreign visitors and to help with any social or personal problems which they might have during their stay.

The main activities are:- 

Every Friday from 7.30pm - 9.30pm Social Evening at Victoria Avenue

 Most Sundays from 12.00 noon- 3.30pm. Hospitality from Howard Road

Discovery English is staffed by approved volunteers from Emmanuel Baptist Church and is open to those of any faith or none.

There is no charge for most of the activities.
